Christmas Traditions Tag 2014
My take on the Christmas Traditions Tag//2014

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to post my take on the Christmas Traditions Tag as I think it allows us to get to know each other a bit better. I was tagged by Danielle from Underland to Wonderland one of my favorite bloggers given her sweet demeanor and amazing photo gallery which in filled of beautiful images of Disney.

1. When does Christmas start for you?

It starts as soon as Thanksgiving ends! I love Christmas and love making it last as long as possible.

2. What is one Christmas movie you must watch?

A Muppet Christmas Carol—it’s my absolute favorite movie! I’m a big fan of Kermit and Miss Piggy.

Not far behind are Love Actually, Home Alone II, Christmas Vacation and It’s a Wonderful Life.

It's a Wonderful Life, Home Alone II, A Muppet Christmas Carol, Christmas Vacation and Love Actually are some of my favorite holiday movies! #ChristmasTraditionsTag #lbloggers #bbloggers #fbloggers

3. Do you bake a Christmas cake or buy one?

My family isn’t big on baking sweets for the holidays. Is that strange? We love making tamales and what seems like a tub of cider. It’s just lovely!

4. When do you put up your Christmas tree?

Just like Danielle, we try to put it up as soon as possible which is usually as soon as Thanksgiving is over.

 5. Do you have a real or fake Christmas tree?

We have a fake tree. It’s small and sturdy and is set to last us for many years to come. It makes me happy to know we are getting our money’s worth while creating memories we’ll always cherish.

 6. When do you start playing Christmas music?

Honestly, whenever I want any time of year hence when December comes around I don’t feel particularly compelled to play it all month long.

7. Do you use the same Christmas decorations each year or buy new ones?

Yes, indeed! I love our decorations and it’s really hard for me to justify the cost of purchasing and replacing our decorations year after year.

8. How do you spend Christmas Eve?

Eating and opening presents while listening to Christmas themed music or watching festive TV programs.

 9. Advent calendar or no advent calendar?

No advent calendar for no particular reason other than we didn’t grow up practicing this tradition. It’s a lovely idea and I think I’ll start it once we have little one’s as I’m sure they’d enjoy it.

10. Do you leave a snack out for Santa and his reindeer?

No, I don’t. I didn’t grow up believing in Santa. We grew up celebrating the birth of Jesus and the journey of the three kings. This was the case while we lived in Mexico, once we moved to the U.S. and we learned of the jolly old man that made his way around the world in one night delivering all sorts of goodies to good girls and boys and my mom sort of wanted us to start celebrating this tradition. I was never really sold on the idea though. It didn’t make sense. When my little sister was born, she was thoroughly convinced that there was a Santa and she would leave cookies and milk out for Santa.

11. How does Santa get into your house?

Hmm…I think he’s inside already...

12. Mince pies, yay or nay?

I’ve never tried one but I would love to! So, it isn’t a traditional item we cook up. We do however love our traditional Mexican dishes and hams.

 13. Snowballs, eggnog, or mulled wine?

LOVE EGGNOG!! Silk came out with their own version and I love it the most—no booze necessary. I just love the rich sweet consistency.

14. What scents remind you of Christmas?

Evergreens, peppermint and cinnamon!

 15. How do you spend Christmas Day?

Now, I spend it with my fiancé's family. Previously, we spent it watching TV and eating leftovers all day long at home.
